4-year-old boy struck by car in Old Lyme

Old Lyme -- A 4-year-old New London boy suffered serious injuries late Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a car while using a crosswalk on Shore Road, also known as Route 156.

Langston Romney, of 24 Keeney Lane, was flown by Life Star helicopter to Yale New Haven Children's Hospital with what state police called serious but non life-threatening injuries.

State police said that Kathryn D. Jennings, 17, of South Windsor was driving her Volvo sedan south on Shore Road just prior to the intersection with Swan Avenue at 5:39 p.m. when she struck Romney in the crosswalk. The impact sent the boy into the air. State police said Jennings did not see the boy.

The incident is being investigated by the state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
