Norwich — Officers responded to the Stop & Shop on Town Street about 6:30 p.m. Friday for a reported robbery of the People's United Bank inside the facility, Norwich police said.

Police said they later learned that a man, who didn't use or show a weapon, approached the counter and demanded cash from the teller. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and fled in a dark-colored, 4-door sedan. No injuries were reported.

Police described the suspect as a 6-foot-2-inch Black man of average build, wearing a shirt, pants, face mask and ball cap that are all camouflage, and light-colored sneakers.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call Detective Richard Cannata at (860) 886-5561, ext. 3138, or call the Norwich Police Tip Line at (860) 886-5561, ext. 4.
