Montville — A fire caused minor structural damage late Monday afternoon to a garage next to a home at 31 Looking Glass Circle.

The single-family home is located inside the Hillcrest 55+ community.

Fire Marshal Paul Barnes said a neighbor noticed the fire and got the homeowner out of the house.

The fire was reported at 4:18 p.m. and all fire companies in town -- Montville, Mohegan, Chesterfield, Oakdale and the Mohegan Tribal department -- responded.

Barnes said the cause of the fire is under investigation. He said minimal smoke entered the home and the resident will not be displaced.
