UPDATED: Motorcyclist seriously injured in New London crash
New London — A 22-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured early Sunday night when he was involved in an accident with a minivan on Montauk Avenue.
New London Police Capt. Matthew Galante said in a news release Monday that the man had potentially life-threatening injuries and was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by ambulance and then taken to Yale New Haven Hospital. He was listed in stable condition as of Monday morning.
The crash occurred at 6:17 p.m. at the intersection of Orchard Street. The driver of the minivan declined treatment.
The road was reopened at 8:30 p.m. The crash occurred just four hours after the annual Blessing of the Bikes motorcycle event in the city.
Galante said the investigation into the accident remains active.
