Ledyard — Town police said Lambtown Road is closed and Pumpkin Hill Road is restricted to one lane of traffic Tuesday night after a car crashed into a telephone pole on Lambtown Road about 100 yards from the intersection with Pumpkin Hill.
The car flipped onto its roof and the driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was able to get out uninjured, police said. The driver has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The telephone pole was destroyed in the 9:18 p.m. crash and utility company Eversource was en route to the scene, police said about 10:40 p.m.
This is a developing story.
