New London man charged with gun possession
New London — A 34-year-old New London man was charged with various weapons violations on Wednesday as part of the police department’s Quality of Life initiative.
Police said Daniel Hunt of 9 Denison Ave., Apt. 1, was found to be in possession of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an altered serial number. Police said the arrest has no known connection to a fatal shooting that occurred on Tuesday night.
Hunt is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of ammunition and altering or removing an identification number on a firearm. He was arrested in the area of 283 Broad St. at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Hunt was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and slated to appear Thursday in New London Superior Court.
