Conventional house-hunting wisdom deems that it’s better for a buyer to narrow their geographic search. The competitive sellers’ market has upended that practice, and now it may be best to be open-minded about zip code. Coldwell Banker Realtor Jacqueline Hoyt explains how it can work in a buyer’s favor, too:

“After searching for more than a year with some buyers, we’ve opened up our search parameters to offer more options. Oftentimes, depending on price point, buyers may find more house for their buck in a different location. Providing information to the clients about other towns and locations will often turn up some more appealing aspects and potentially a better location. Exploring new territory can be just the thing buyers need for a fresh start on their house-hunting journey!”
