    Sound Advice

Residential buyers are still encountering competition with other buyers in the southeast Connecticut market. William Pitt Sotheby’s Realtor Sara Venditto explains how an escalation clause may give a buyer the edge:

“Well-priced properties are still attracting multiple offers, and for buyers hoping to have the winning bid, an escalation clause may push your offer to the finish line, without paying too much. In the event a competing offer matches or exceeds your bid, the escalation clause will take effect, increasing your offer incrementally up to a specified maximum. It is not failproof, but it provides you with more offer-power without bidding out of your comfort zone.”
