    A beloved Weekapaug home is for sale for the first time in nearly 60 years
    15 Knowles Ave., Westerly, is offered to the market for $3.95 million. It’s located in the coastal community of Weekapaug, and it’s on the market for the first time in nearly 60 years, according to listing broker Lori Joyal, with Lila Delman Compass.

    Lori Joyal, a broker and sales manager at Lila Delman-Compass in Watch Hill, debuted a new listing this week at 15 Knowles Avenue in Westerly. It’s a part of the private coastal community of Weekapaug, comprising a four-bedroom single-family home and an attached two-car garage, situated on a 0.34-acre lot with unimpeded water views.

    “Weekapaug is a prestigious, family-oriented community,” Joyal told Welcome Home. “It is reminiscent of years past, where you see children riding their bikes, with unabashed bliss on their faces.”

    One of the residents’ favorite amenities is the association-maintained tennis courts. Adults and children of varying skill levels can be seen playing there, on eight courts made of grass or clay. In the summertime, Weekapaug kids can partake in sailing lessons, and all members of the family can enjoy a carefree summertime vibe, Joyal reported.

    The shingle-and-stone colonial was built in 1948. It presides over a 0.34-acre lot in acoastal community, with amenities like eight tennis courts and a population of fewer than 500 full-time residents, per the 2020 U.S. Census.

    The 3,381-square-foot house was built in 1948, and it presents an opportunity for a buyer to “make it their own,” Joyal suggested.

    The front door opens to a center hall and central staircase. To the left is a formal dining room, and to the right is a den or sitting room, which opens to the 27-by-15-foot living room. The kitchen sits at the back of the house in the floor plan, along with a powder room and home office. There are also two bedrooms and a full bath on this main level.

    Joyal pointed to the generous proportions of the rooms and accommodating square footage: “The spaciousness of the rooms in the home, along with four generous bedrooms will make it easy for someone to create their own paradise,” she suggested.

    A cozy and comforting stone fireplace sits just inside the front door, which opens to the formal dining room.

    That includes the especially large kitchen, which a buyer may wish to remodel. It has magnificent water views, Joyal noted.

    On the second floor, there are two more bedrooms, including the primary bedroom that has a walk-in closet, private bath and an 11-by-11-foot dressing room.

    The top-floor bedrooms, including the primary suite, have balcony decks.

    Asked to describe the location to buyers who may be considering the property from afar, Joyal said, “The location is superb with gorgeous unobstructed views of the Atlantic with a short walk to one of many access points of the beautiful Weekapaug Beach.”

    “You have access to Quonochontaug saltwater pond, which breaches into the Atlantic,” she added. She describes the beaches as “exquisite, white and sandy,” and attested to how neighbors can be seen out on the water on paddle boards and in kayaks.

    The four-bedroom home has plenty of places to take in the spectacular water views—both inside the home and outside.

    There’s a yacht club, and avid boaters and sailors find it fun to chart courses to nearby Watch Hill, Block Island or Montauk out on Long Island.

    “There are so many reasons why people love to call Weekapaug their home, but the sense of community is paramount,” Joyal concluded.
