Sound Advice 10-27-23
A Welcome Home reader recently asked about the heartbreak of vying for a home, only to have it sold to another bidder—and how to minimize the risk of that happening. Sotheby’s Associate Broker Judi Caracausa explains how tenacity can pay off:
“My mother always told me, ‘You can’t win if you don’t play.’ You also need to learn to live with life’s disappointments. To minimize your risk of heartbreak, consider your offer; sellers are looking for a clean, strong offer—perhaps one that’s not contingent on a home inspection. Have your Pre-Qualification or Pre-Approval letter ready to submit with the offer, or a verification of funds, if you are paying cash. Don’t stop looking at the market; knowledge is power. And, remember, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Be persistent!”
