    Part of Colchester’s Farmwood subdivision, 4 Settlers Lane is offered to the market for $899,900. This week, Welcome Home spoke with the listing agent, Berkshire Hathaway’s Sherry Borgeson, and her client about the property, which was custom built in 1998 by Builder Brian Johnson, who developed the community. It’s a home expressly tailored by the current owner, with the expectation of it being his family’s “forever home.”

    Including a finished lower level, the house affords 5,516 square feet of interior living space, four bedrooms, three baths, an attached three-car garage, and several amenities for entertaining.

    The expansive nature of the house allowed for the owner to welcome his parents to move in with their family for a time, accommodating a multi-generational living arrangement.

    “It’s a wonderful neighborhood,” the seller said, referencing the collection of similar-styled and proportioned homes, as well as his neighbors, of whom he spoke fondly.

    Over the years, they’ve enjoyed events on the town green, including car shows, tag sales, farmers markets and holiday activities for the kids.

    “[Colchester] has a phenomenal school system,” he added. He attested to the well-rounded educational foundation it provided for his children, preparing them for higher education at renowned universities. He also appreciated the proximity to New London and Hartford—each about a half-hour away—and to Boston and New York City in approximately two hours.
