Sound Advice 11-01-24
A Welcome Home reader recently asked for the “best advice for buyers in this market.” Bud Bowes, broker-owner of RE/MAX On the Bay in Niantic was happy to oblige:
“Meet with your Realtor for a buyer consultation. Get pre-approved for a mortgage, and then go out and look at a few houses with your Realtor to get familiar with the market. That will put you in the best position to make a quicker decision, and you will be more confident to submit a strong offer when you find the home of your dreams.
Going into the holiday season can be a great time to buy. There is less competition, as many of the less serious buyers are busy with other activities and their home search takes a backseat. If you are serious about buying a home, November and December may be the right time for you. With interest rates trending downward, we are expecting to see a busy spring market, with hesitant buyers jumping off the fence and submitting offers creating upward pressure on prices as multiple offers cause home values to appreciate.”
