The church, which celebrated its centennial earlier this year, borrowed money to restore the window, one of 10 designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany for the church, because it was too badly deteriorated to wait for the fundraising effort for the restoration of all the windows to bear fruit. The church has launched a major fundraiser to restore the sanctuary´s 10 Tiffany stained-glass windows, each one costing an estimated $30,000. The windows are a bit different from those of other churches, congregation Treasurer Penny Herring told The Day in September, because they don´t depict Biblical images, such as Jesus Christ with the lamb. These windows are colorful geometric patterns. The repaired window was cleaned, re-leaded and repaired at Bovard's workshop in Iowa. (Sean D. Elliot/The Day)
