    H.S. roundup: East Lyme volleyball outlast Waterford 3-2

    East Lyme — Skylar Bell had 36 digs and Shae McMunn 30 assists to highlight East Lyme’s 3-2 volleyball victory over Waterford on Thursday night.

    Game scores were 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 23-25 and 15-6.

    Abby Parulis added eight kills and Addison Soleau seven kills for the Vikings (1-1) while Lillian Steinhaus had 39 assists and 11 digs for the Lancers (2-2), Marina Colonis added 14 kills and 15 digs, and Emerson Lane finished with 10 kills and four blocks.

    In other matches:

    • Woodstock handed Bacon Academy its first loss, 3-1. Game scores were 25-19, 25-19, 17-25 and 25-22. Kiera Stewart had 15 assists for the Bobcats (2-1) while Meghan Walsh added seven kills and five digs and Jill Filloramo had five digs and two aces.

    • Ellis Tech outlasted Grasso Tech 3-1 in the CTC. Game scores were25-7, 25-12, 18,25 and 25-21. Jamilette Montes had seven service points and two kills for the Eagles (0-2) while Jada Muirhead added five points and four digs.

    • Plainfield beat Montville 3-1 on Wednesday, winning 15-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18. Karla Flores had three kills and three aces, Alyna Ovalles had six aces and four digs, Zoie Farrar had nine digs and four kills and Grace Galvan had eight digs and three kills for Montville (2-1).

    • Grace Phaneuf had nine assists and nine aces as Old Lyme beat Cromwell 3-0 in a Shoreline Conference match on Wednesday. Quinn Arico had four kills for the Wildcats (1-1, 1-1), who won 25-14, 25-16, 25-9.

    Field hockey

    • Marina Lewandowski scored a pair of goals in the second quarter to lift Stonington to a 3-1 Eastern Connecticut Conference victory over Waterford. Katie Anbari also scored for the Bears (2-1, 2-0), Brianna Plew had an assist and goalie Madi Allard made three saves. Samantha Silva, assisted by Samantha San Juan, scored for the Lancers (0-3, 0-2) and goalie Emma Smathers made four saves.

    • Izzy Ash and Sophie Ash each had two goals and one assist as Fitch remained unbeaten with a 6-0 ECC win over Woodstock Academy. Ashleigh Holmes added a goal and an assist for the Falcons (3-0, 2-0) while Brooke Bergendahl scored a goal, Sophie Kollar and Alice Hu each had assists and goalie Abriel Carey made three saves.

    Boys’ soccer

    • Ryan Turner scored a pair of goals as Stonington defeated Ledyard 4-0 in an ECC Division II match. Jackson Gothie and Sal Alessio also scored goals for the Bears (3-0, 1-0) while Oliver Cooke, Anders Dahl, Josh Lord and Brett Caron each had assists. Ledyard is 1-2-1, 0-1.

    • Michael George converted a penalty kick late in the first half to lift Norwich Tech to a 1-0 victory over Wilcox Tech in the Connecticut Technical Conference. The Warriors are 2-0.

    Girls’ soccer

    • Old Lyme came alive in the second half to defeat East Hampton 3-0 in the Shorelilne Conference. Following a scoreless first half, Alexis Fenton scored twice for the Wildcats (2-2, 2-1), Aggie Hunt added a goal and Sydney Goulding and Ella Curtiss-Reardon each had one assist.

    • Goodwin Tech defeated Grasso Tech 6-3 in the CTC. Natalie Smith scored a goal for the Eagles as did a pair of freshmen — Danielle Sands and Haylee Shefer.

    • Carleigh O’Keefe had a goal and two assists and Carly Constantine scored twice as Stonington beat Bacon Academy 4-1 in the ECC Division II opener for both teams on Wednesday night. Iliana Rashleigh had a goal and an assist for Stonington (2-1).

    • Ledyard beat Killingly 2-0 in the ECC Division II opener for both teams on Wednesday night. Maddie McLeod and Sarah Bailey scored goals and Jess Dudley had five saves for Ledyard (3-0).

    Swimming

    • Mercedes Aleksjuka and Natalie Bezanson won two events each as NFA beat Ledyard 81-72 in an ECC meet on Wednesday. Aleksjuka won the 50 freestyle (29.55) and 100 freestyle (1:07.24) and Bezanson won the 200 IM (2:30.17) and 100 backstroke (1:10.14). Stephanie Wells also won an event and was on two winning relays teams for NFA (1-1, 1-0) along with Dianna Alacron, Gianna Lennon, Willow Ludlow, Stephanie Herr, Bezanson and Aleskjuka.

    Harudo Zemlo won the 100 butterfly (1:20.97) and 500 freestyle (6:51.10) for Ledyard (0-2, 0-2) and Thelma Grogan also won an event and teamed with Cate McKenzie, Zemlo and Lauren Day to win the 200 medley relay.

    Girls’ cross country

    • Old Lyme took four of the top five spots on Wednesday and won Morgan’s four-team Husky Invite. The Wildcats had 21 points, followed by Old Saybrook (45) and Valley Regional (82). Morgan did not score. Chase Gilbert won with a time of 18:55, Gesami Vazquez was second (22:01), Madeline Morgado was fourth (22:55) and Alexis Antonellis was fifth (23:09). Catherin Minegar of Old Saybrook was third in 22:44.

    Boys’ cross country

    • Old Lyme took four of the top five spots on Wednesday and won Morgan’s four-team Husky Invite. The Wildcats had 23 points, followed by Old Saybrook (42), Valley Regional (79) and Morgan (86). Parker Cook of Old Saybrook won the race in 17:56 followed by Old Lyme’s Harry Whitten (18:07), Eric Dagher (18:45), George Williams (15:57) and Dylan Hovey (19:10).
