    Palmer wins Late Model Shootout at the Speedbowl

    Waterford – Jason Palmer won the 15-lap Late Model Shootout during the New London-Waterford Speedbowl’s Full Fendered Throwdown on Saturday night.

    Ray Christian III won the first of two 25-lap Late Model races with Palmer taking the second race. Palmer finished second in the first race, Christan was second in the second race and Ryan Morgan finished third in both races. Christian came in second in the 15-lap race and Charles Bailey was third.

    Also winning races were Brian Norman (Street Stocks), Charles Canfield (Mini Stocks), Pete Zaikarite Jr. (X-Cars), Bill Rheaume (Super X-Cars), Devin Deshaies (Pro Trucks) and Josh Martin (Compact Enduro).

Brian Norman and Charles Canfield sailed their way to big wins in the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Pete Zaikarite and Bill Rheaume flip the script in the X-Cars and Super X-Cars. Former Legend Car competitor Devin Deshaies won the Exit Realty Pro Trucks race, and Josh Martin won the Compact Enduro.

    The final Saturday night show is Oct. 1, headlined by the INEX Legend Car Fall Classic with all weekly Speedbowl divisions on the card, including INEX Bandoleros. The season-ending Finale is Oct. 15-16.

    Hockey

    • Tyler Pazin scored three goals and Nicolas Halle-Tanco made 29 saves as the Norwich Hockey Club beat the New England Predators 6-0 at UMass Lowell. Jacob Martineau had a goal and two assists, Felix-Antoine Laflamme had a goal and an assist and Vincent Ceegheur had a goal for Norwich (6-0).

    Women’s soccer

    • Connecticut College lost to Johnson & Wales 2-0 in a nonleague game. Jordan Restivo had a goal and an assist for Johnson & Wales (7-2-1). Sarah Hall made two saves for Conn (4-2-1).
