New London – Alfonzo Stokes scored a game-high 26 points as Mitchell College outlasted Dean College 82-77 in a non-league men’s basketball game on Tuesday night.

Waterford’s Mikey Buscetto added 18 points and five assists for the Mariners (2-1) while New Londons Jalen Benson added 11 points and four assists and Wilton Causey came off the bench to score 10 points.

In other games:

• Connecticut College scored 47 points in the second half to rout SUNY Purchase 78-36. David Murray had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Camels (1-1) while Cam Schainfeld added 12 points and Andrew Hartel had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Women’s basketball

• UConn has scheduled a game next season against Minnesota at Williams Arena in Minneapolis on Nov. 19, 2023. The game will serve as a homecoming for junior Paige Bueckers, a native of nearby Hopkins. The Golden Gophers are coached by Connecticut Sun all-star and U.S. Olympian LIndsay Whalen.

• Mitchell College scored the game’s first 18 points and cruised to a 68-44 victory over City College of New York on Monday night. Jermia Dumas had 23 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Mariners (1-1) while Yasmine Santos added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Amina Wiley finished with nine points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.

H.S. swimming

• East Lyme finished seventh in the Class M championship meet on Monday night at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven. The Vikings finished with 281 points. Pomperaug won the team title with 707.5 points while Ledyard, the only other local school, was 19th with 50 points.

East Lyme had three top 10 finishes, including a sixth by the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Lauren Hinckley, Ella Pape, Julia Morcos and Sandra Kirvelevicius (1:46.32), an eighth by Grace Xu in the 100 backstroke (1:07.60) and a 10th by the 400 freestyle relay team of Ruby Thoms, Morcos, Jennifer Park and Xu (4:00.89).
