Storrs — UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards was selected as one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Women's Basketball College Player of the Year, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club Thursday.

Edwards, a first team All-Big East Conference pick and the league’s Most Improved Player, is averaging career highs of 16.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game and shooting 57.3%. She is one of only two Huskies to play in every game.

A Kingston, Ontario, native, Edwards set a career high with 26 points vs. Florida State on Dec. 18. She has scored in double digits in 23 games this season and has 14 double-doubles.

The award’s four finalists will be announced March 21. The Fan Vote to help narrow the list down to the final honoree will be open from March 21-28. The fan vote will account for 5% of the overall final vote. The Naismith Trophy will be awarded on Wednesday, March 29 during the Women’s Final Four.
