    Local roundup: East Lyme beats Bacon baseball 8-3 and finishes regular season with 17-3 record

    Colchester — John Bureau broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single in the fifth as East Lyme finished its regular season with an 8-3 win over Bacon Academy on Friday.

    Bureau finished 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for the Vikings (17-3) while Liam Cochrane added two hits and scored twice.

    Steven Laliberte and Chris Lusignan each had two hits and an RBI for the Bobcats (11-9) while James Chiaverini had a triple, run and RBI.

    In other games:

    • Grady Lacourciere singled with two outs and the bases loaded int he bottom of the seventh to give Old Lyme a 4-3 nonleague victory over New London. The Wildcats (15-5) had tied the game moments earlier when a safety squeeze by Jack Porter scored Davis Ewers.

    Lacourciere finished 2-for-4 with a run and RBI while Porter had two hits and an RBI and Santiago Rodriguez and Rowen Meisner each had tweo htis and a run. Henry Santana-Liriano was 3-for-3 to lead the Whalers (8-11) whiel Dariuis Aquina had two hits with a run and RBI.

    Old Lyme’s Ben Frazier pitched four shutout innings in relief to earn the win.

    • Waterford edged Lyman Memorial 2-1 in eight inning as Matt Shampine pitched a complete game and struck out five without walking a batter. Jaden Reyes had two hits for the Lancers (12-8), driving in the go-ahead run in the eight, while Matt Ory added two hits and two runs. Jared Russo had three hits for the Bulldogs (12-7) and scored the lone run.

    • Josh Ambrose pitched a four-hitter and struck out 10 as Bacon defeated Ledyard 11-1 in an ECC Division II game on Thursday night at Dodd Stadium in Norwich. Ambrose also went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs for the Bobcats, who finished 4-4 in the division, while Steven Laliberte had four hits, two runs and three RBI and James Gumbs had three hits and scord four times. Ledyard is 2-16, 1-7.

    H.S. softball

    • Hailey Smith pitched all eight innings as NFA outlasted Guilford 4-3. Smith also had hit, RBI and scored twice for the Wildcats (15-5) while Leah Manke was 2-for-3, Emma McAvoy had a double, RBI and run and Madison Waltke had an RBI single.

    • Teagan Lajoie had two hits and drove in five runs as Ledyard defeated Wheeler 13-1 in five innings. Layla Lasisomphone added three hits for the Colonels (11-8) while Caylee Cliett was 2-for-2 and Maegan Miller had a triple. Isabella Deledda was 2-for-3 with a double and Addie Stanley had an RBI single for the Lions (11-8).

    • Ellington’s Cam Fischer no-hit Waterford as the Lancers lost their regular-season finale 1-0. Fischer walked two and struck out 16 while Rachel Milheiro drove in the lone run with a single in the fourth. The Lancers are 13-7.

    • Breelin McDougle hit a three-run homer as Bolton defeated Bacon Academy 8-1 in a nonleague game. Jazlyn Small-Yu doubled and scored the only run for the Bobcats (4-13).

    College baseball

    • UConn Avery Point’s season came to an end as the Pointers lost to host Lackawanna 12-4 and SUNY Sullivan 7-4 in the NJCAA Division II East District double-elimination tournament in Scranton, Pa. Avery Point finishes 27-11.

    Girls’ golf

    • Rory Risley carded a 52 as Stonington had a medal total of 244 and earned a forfeit win over Killingly, which had only three players, on Thursday. Taya Kelly added a 62 for the Bears (4-3, 4-3) and Adilyn Risley as next with a 63.
