    Local roundup: Arnold leads Whalers to victory

    New London — Darielys Arnold scored three goals to power New London past Amistad, 6-0, in high school girls’ soccer game on Monday.

    Gianna Vamvakides found the back of the net with a free kick from 30 yards out and Giselle Gordillo and Rojuana Henry also scored goals for the Whalers (1-1).

    In other games:

    • JuJu Guarraia scored with 4:22 left in the game as East Lyme beat Woodstock Academy 1-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game. Shilo Nucci assisted on the goal and Sam Rodes made five saves for her fourth shutout for the Vikings (4-0, 1-0).

    • Hannah Viele’s second half goal was the difference in Wheeler’s 1-0 win over Windham in an ECC Division IV game. Goalies Lily White (five saves) and Maya Dessaules (10 saves), who stopped a penalty kick, combined for the shutout for the Lions (1-3, 1-0).

    • Charlotte Jessuck set up Camryn Dickinson’s game-winning goal early in the first half in Waterford’s 1-0 win over Norwich Free Academy in ECC Division I action. Victoria Sturm had five saves for the Lancers (3-0, 1-0). Ava Boenig had five saves for the Wildcats (1-1-1, 0-1).

    • Karissa Hochdorfer, Allie Kondash, Avery Bouchey and Jada Cheung scored goals for Montville in a 4-1 win over Killingly in ECC Division III. Nicole Hudson had two assists for the Wolves (3-0, 1-0).

    • Bianca Bracamonte scored three goals to help lift Grasso Tech past Prince Tech, 6-0. Kylee Morrison, Giana Martinez and Paola Nieves each added a goal for the Eagles (2-1).

    • St. Bernard played to a 2-2 tie with Plainfield in an ECC Div. III game. Abbey Egan scored both goals for the Saints (0-1-1).

    • Ledyard beat Griswold 2-0. Maggie Dykes and Lia Day scored goals, Emma Piatek had an assist and Jess Dudley made six saves for the Colonels (1-2). Paige Vreeland had eight saves for Griswold (1-2).

    • Emily McKelvey scored three goals and Becca Ziegler added one in Lyman Memorial’s 4-0 win over Windham Tech. Avery Volle and Haley Cardinali had one assist apiece for the Bulldogs (3-1).

    • Stonington outshot Bacon Academy 15-5 but lost the ECC Division II game 2-0.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Danica Agsalud contributed five aces, five kills, five digs and 12 assists for Waterford in a 3-0 shutout of Ledyard. Game scores were 25-8, 25-13 and 25-13. Brielle Kenney had four aces, five kills, four digs and an assist while Ava Majeski had 11 digs and Jennie Macca Barnes added 10 kills, five digs and three aces for the Lancers (3-0).

    Lorelei England had four blocks and Alana Brewer five blocks for the Colonels (1-2) while Shiloh McKeon had four kills and Bella Schweitzer added seven digs.

    • Adriana Vitorino chipped in 15 digs, three points and an ace for New London in a 3-0 loss to Plainfield. Alyse Manley had six digs, four assists, four points and two aces for the Whalers (0-3) while Myrna Pratts had 15 digs, Cashel Jones six points and Ky`Ani Allgood five kills and a block.

    • East Lyme swept Fitch, winning by game scores of 25-12, 25-23 and 25-22. Abby Parulis had 16 kills while Jordyn Skinner had eight digs and three aces and Finnley Wilson added nine kills and eight digs for the Vikings (1-1).

    Abby Malone had 18 digs for the Falcons (1-3) and Sage Overmoyer had 19 digs and Leilani McCoy added six blocks.

    • Old Lyme swept Portland in the Shoreline Conference, winning 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17. Kaylyn Vernon had 10 assists, Maya LeQuire eight kills and Addison Spooner five aces for the Wildcats (1-2, 1-2).

    • Bacon Academy out-lasted Wheeler by a 3-2 margin. Game scores were 25-21,16-25, 21-25, 25-15 and 15-8. Dominique Sanchez had 42 digs for the Bobcats (2-1) while Maddie Meyer had 36 kills, Bailey Handwerk 31 kills and Jillian Snow added 30 assists and 22 digs. Addison Stanley had seven kills and eight blocks for the Lions (1-1).

    • Mackenzie Payne had 17 assists, three kills and three assists for Montville in a 3-0 win over Putnam. Alyna Ovalles had 12 digs and three aces for the Wolves (3-1) and Savannah Malinowsky had six kills and four aces.

    • Kierra Nelson had eight kills, eight blocks and two aces for Griswold in a 3-0 loss to Woodstock. Game scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 27-25. Abby Matheson had 10 kills and 15 digs for the Wolverines (1-1) and Bella Bruno chipped in 19 assists, eight digs, two blocks and an ace.

    • Norwich Free Academy defeated Westerly, 3-1, with game scores of 25-15, 25-19, 17-25 and 25-10. Emily Orcutt had eight aces, eight digs, five blocks and three kills for the Wildcats (1-2). Evelina Klyukin had 12 kills, nine digs and four aces while Stella Hogan had 13 digs and four kills and Aiyana Cloutier added 18 digs.

    H.S. boys’ soccer

    • Brenden Landry had three goals and an assist in Old Lyme’s 7-0 shutout of Hale Ray. Gavin Biega and Colman Curtiss-Reardon each had two goals and an assist for the Wildcats (1-2). Ian Maeby and Bowen Turick had one assist apiece and goalie Sam Edmed had five saves.
