    H.S. cross country: Littler leads Ledyard past Woodstock

    Ledyard — Ledyard’s Kate Littler won the race in 20:34 as the Colonels opened the season with a 19-36 win over Woodstock Academy in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I meet on Tuesday.

    • Race winner Karina Chan finished in 19:56 as Norwich Free Academy defeated Fitch (16-41) in an ECC Div. I race and Bacon Academy (23-32). Lorelei Romasanta led Bacon with a third-place finish as the Bobcats defeated Fitch 17-41.

    • Waterford runners occupied the first eight spots during a 15-50 win over Killingly in an ECC Div. II meet. Avery Maiese won the race for the Lancers and Elle DiBuono was second.

    • St. Bernard’s Helena Coury won the race in 22:58 as the Saints beat both Plainfield and Putnam 15-50 in an ECC Div. III meet. Mia Klewin of St. Bernard (2-0) finished second in 24:40.

    • Hazel DeNoia won the race in 21:12 and Lyman Memorial defeated New London and Montville by scores of 15-50 in an ECC Div. III meet. Montville also defeated New London, 15-50.

    • Chase Gilbert won the Morgan School Husky Invitational in a time of 18:15. Maia Guisti of the Wildcats was second overall.

    Boys

    • Trevor Scarchilli won the race in 18:46 as Wheeler defeated Windham (22-40) and Tourtellotte (15-50) in an ECC Div. III meet. James Noyes finished second overall for Wheeler (2-0).

    • Rad Tanksley, Tyler Stringer and Palmer Noe finished in the top five and St. Bernard defeated Plainfield 25-32 and Putnam 15-50 in an ECC Div. III meet. The Saints are 2-0.

    • Patrick Croughwell, Jesse Croteau and Anthony DeBartolo finished second through fourth respectively and Norwich Free Academy defeated Fitch (22-38) in an ECC div. I meet and Bacon Academy (15-49). Julien Silva of Fitch was the overall winner in 16:39, helping the Falcons defeat Bacon 26-30.

    • Race winner Kellen Johnson finished in 19:55 and Lyman Memorial edged Montville, 27-28 in an ECC Div. III meet. Lyman also defeated New London, 15-50. Montville defeated New London, 15-50.

    • Old Lyme finished second at the Morgan School Husky Invitational. Simon Karpinski led the Wildcats with a sixth-place finish.
