High school soccer roundup: Hargus makes it a hat trick for Bears, who take Piver Cup consolation game
Stonington — Ladleigh Hargus scored three goals Saturday as the Stonington High School girls’ soccer team defeated Fitch 5-2 in the consolation game of the Piver Cup tournament.
Maya Terwilliger and Finn O’Keefe each added a goal for the Bears (1-4) and Madison Hubbard had an assist.
Hannah Richardson and Grace Cosmopoulos scored goals for Fitch (0-4) and Jayda Johnson made 15 saves in goal.
In other games:
• Granby defeated Old Lyme 3-0. Olivia Kelly made 16 saves for Old Lyme (3-2).
• Colbie Giselson had a goal and an assist for Norwich Free Academy in a 2-2 tie with Masuk. Kylee Cyr also scored for the Wildcats (1-1-2), heading in a corner kick by Giselson to tie the game at 1-1. Giselson’s goal came on an assist from Sadie Daniewicz.
Boys
• Waterford scored twice in the final 11 minutes and rallied past Somers 3-2. Ian Rush, Matt Allen and Boden Fagan scored for the Lancers, while Matt Shampine had two assists. Ben Dubicki had eight saves for the Lancers while Alex Casper had a goal-saving clear off the line with seconds remaining.
• Callaway Scott scored twice and Garrison Biggs added a goal for East Lyme in a 3-3 tie against Morgan. Jonny Gutierrez scored all three goals for Morgan. Caleb Trost registered a pair of assists, Max Montejano had one assist and Oliver Lopez made two saves in net for East Lyme (4-0-1).
• Sal Alessio had four goals and an assist and Stonington defeated Westerly 8-0 in the consolation game of the Piver Cup. Jace Wolfradt, Charlie Kramer, Brady O’Neil and Brody Alexander also scored for the Bears (3-2).
• Griswold scored two goals in the first 15 minutes and held on to beat Wheeler 2-1. Brayden Weidner and Aiden Plante scored for the Wolverines (3-1) and Wyatt Hayes scored for Wheeler (1-4).
• Granby defeated Old Lyme 3-1. Charlie McEwen scored for the Wildcats (2-3), assisted by Judah Waldo, and Sam Edmed made 10 saves.
