    Local roundup: Noonan leads Wheeler to victory

    Putnam — Luke Noonan scored three goals to help power Wheeler past Putnam, 9-0, in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division IV boys’ soccer game on Monday.

    The Lions (2-4, 2-1) held a 26-3 shot advantage.

    Jackie Dowrey scored two goals in the first eight minutes, 30 seconds, to get Wheeler off to a fast start.

    Brodey Pappas had a goal and an assist while David Levanto, Jonas Gagnon and Seth Klewin also scored for the Lions. Burke Adams and Devlin McCusker combined to make three saves.

    In other games:

    • Liam Kelly converted a penalty kick for the Williams School in a 4-1 loss to the Harvey School. The Blues are 0-1-1.

    • Old Lyme lost to Old Saybrook, 3-0, in the Shoreline Conference. Sam Edmed had 11 saves for the Wildcats (2-4, 2-2). Casey DeAngelo, Reggie Duque and Christian Dutra scored for the Rams.

    H.S. girls’ soccer

    • Emily McKelvey scored two goals and Becca Ziegler added one in Lyman Memorial’s 3-0 win over Wheeler in Division IV. Avery Volle and Haley Cardinali each added an assist and goalie Phoebe Carpenter had four saves for the Bulldogs 5-1-1, 1-0-1. Lillian White had nine saves for the Lions (2-5, 2-1).

    • Norwich Free Academy’s Ava Boenig made five saves, including stopping a breakaway, in a 2-0 loss to Woodstock in Division I. The Wildcats are 1-2-2, 0-2.

    • Marlee Anselmi scored for the Williams School in a 1-1 tie with the Harvey School.

    • Grasso Tech fell to 2-2 overall with a 6-0 loss to Windham.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Abby Malone and Maddy Nahas had six kills apiece, as Fitch defeated Lyman Memorial, 3-0. Game scores were 25-16, 25-9 and 25-16. Camille Monsale had eight assists and Leilani McCoy had four blocks for the Falcons (2-5). The Bulldogs are 1-5.

    • Bella Bruno chipped in 15 assists, seven digs, two kills and an ace for Griswold in a 3-0 win over Plainfield. Game scores were 25-15, 25-16 and 25-14. Kierra Nelson had nine kills, three blocks, three digs and an ace while Carly Rubino had nine digs, three aces and two assists and Rebecca Marsh added four kills, four digs and two aces for the Wolverines (2-2).

    • East Lyme fell to 3-1 overall wih a 3-1 loss to Simsbury. Natalie Knowlton had nine kills, Taylor Kachinsky 15 digs and Abby Parulis 19 kills and 14 digs for the Vikings.

    • Maya LeQuire had eight kills for Old Lyme in a 3-0 loss to Morgan in the Shoreline Conference. Game scores were 25-21, 25-18 and 25-13. Sophia D’Angelo chipped in 23 digs for the Wildcats (2-4, 2-4) and Stella Young added four aces.

    • Jada Muirhead had 12 service points and Emma Pavlak added seven service points for Grasso Tech in a 3-1 loss to Ellis Tech. Game scores were 25-19, 25-15, 23-25, 25-11. The Eagles are 1-4.

    H.S. cross country

    • Jadiel Thomas finished first in 20:30 to pace Williams School past Harvey School. Mack Rodgers took second in 21:20 and Calvin LaFrance fourth for the Blues and Jonathon Patton placed seventh.

    Alexa Paserek placed third and Lena Cosentino was seventh for the Blues in the girls’ race.

    Road racing

    • Marco Supersano of Old Lyme won the third annual Run for the Hills Trail Race on Saturday, hosted by the Friends of Oswegatchie Hills Nature Preserve. Supersano’s time was 26:19 over 3.3 miles. Mary McGuckin of Waterford was the top women’s finisher in 31:44.
