    Local roundup: Lettiere leads Stonington past East Lyme in field hockey

    East Lyme — Anna Lettiere scored twice as the Stonington field hockey team beat East Lyme 3-1 on Thursday night to take over sole possession of first place in the Eastern Connecticut Conference.

    Marina Lewandowski had a goal, Abby Mayorga had an assist and Emily Obrey had a defensive save and Hailey Allard made one saves for the Bears (6-1, 5-0). Kate Erikson scored a goal, Mia Lloyd had an assist and Emma Van Dusen made four saves for East Lyme (4-3, 4-1).

    H.S. volleyball

    • East Lyme defeated Ledyard 25-13, 25-13, 27-25. Jordyn Skinner had 10 digs, Megan Romanowicz 22 assists and Abby Parulis 19 kills for the Vikings (6-3). Faith Dalton had 12 assists for Ledyard (1-7).

    • Griswold beat NFA 3-2 on Wednesday. Carly Rubino had 31 digs, Kierra Neilson had 18 kills and 12 blocks, Bella Bruno had 37 assists and six digs and Abby Matheson had 10 kills and 12 digs for the Wolverines (6-2), who won15-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13. Evelina Klyukin had 14 kills and 24 digs, Tiyana Taylor had 10 kills and four blocks and Savannah Guernsey had 30 assists and 28 digs for NFA (4-6).

    • Old Lyme fell to North Branford 3-1 in a Shoreline Conference match on Wednesday, losing 15-25, 25-20, 15-25, 19-25. Kaylyn Vernon had 11 assists, Maya LeQuire had nine kills and 13 digs and Molly Boardman had 23 digs for the Wildcats (2-8, 2-8).

    H.S. cross country

    • Both Williams School teams finished seventh at the Marianapolis Prep Invitational on Wednesday. Mack Rodgers led the boys’ team with a sixth-place finish in 18:20 in the 12-team race. Lena Cosentino was the top finisher for the Blues in the nine-team girls’ race.

    College golf

    • Mitchell College’s Shamus McLean birdied the first playoff hole to win the Brett Williamson Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at Tekoa Country Club on Wednesday. Groton’s McLean shot 74 for his round, tying him with Graham Hassan of New England College.

    New England College won the team title with a score of 307 and Mitchell was seventh in the 10-team event with 342.
