    High school roundup: Waterford edges NFA in girls’ soccer

    Waterford — Waterford beat Norwich Free Academy 1-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I girls’ soccer game on Saturday.

    Camryn Dickinson scored directly from a corner kick three minutes into the game and Victoria Sturm made five saves for the Lancers (7-0-1, 3-0-1), who outshot NFA 16-6. Ava Boenig made eight saves for NFA (2-4-3, 1-3).

    In other games:

    • Stonington beat Bacon Academy 1-0 in an ECC Division II game. Madison Hubbard scored the goal, Finn O’Keefe had an assist and Payton Stone had the shutout for the Bears (4-4, 2-1), who outshot Bacon (6-2-2, 3-1) 14-5.

    • Avery Bouchey scored three goals as Montville beat Killingly/Tourtellotte 5-0 in an ECC Division III game. Nicole Hudson scored twice, Sienna Gressly made two saves for the shutout and Jada Cheung, Allie Kondash, Maddy O'Donnell and Isabella Estelle had assists for the Wolves (7-1, 5-0).

    • Emma Piatek broke a 2-2 tie with a goal with 10 minutes remaining as Ledyard beat Fitch 3-2 in an ECC Division II game. Alanah Maranzano and Terri Foster scored goals, Victoria Vidal and Maggie Dykes had assists and Jessica Dudley made three saves for the Colonels (4-4-1, 2-2). Sydney Post and Emma Forde scored goals, Jayda Haney-Salisbury made seven saves and Bethany Lovering had an assist for Fitch (1-6, 0-3).

    • Wheeler played to a 1-1 tie with Windham in an ECC Division IV game. Hannah Viele scored her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Hayden Bresnan 10 minutes into the game and Lily White and Maya Dessaules combined for nine saves for the Lions (2-6-2, 2-1-1). Juliana Christian of Windham scored in the second half.

    • St. Bernard lost to Plainfield 4-1 in an ECC Division III game. Rebecca Bartnik scored for the Saints (1-5-2, 1-2-2).

    Boys’ soccer

    • Chris Baukus scored as Montville beat Griswold 1-0 in an ECC Division III game. Owen Craig assisted on the goal and Logan Leonard made six saves for the Wolves (3-4-2, 1-2-1). Griswold is 3-4-1, 0-4.

    • Ledyard’s Ben Crowe scored three goals as the Colonels and Morgan played to a 3-3 tie in a nonleague game. Crowe scored on a penalty kick and a direct kick and Tyler Salaver assisted on his third goal, which gave Ledyard a 3-2 lead. Jonny Gutierrez of Morgan scored in the 66th minute to tie the game. Paulo Templeton made nine saves for the Colonels (3-2-4).

    • NFA lost to Glastonbury 4-1 in a nonleague game. Caden Joseph scored a goal, Garret Brower had an assist and Kaiden Walsh made 10 saves for the Wildcats (2-4-2).

    Volleyball

    • Taylor Kachinsky had eight kills and nine digs as East Lyme beat Killingly 3-0. Natalie Knowlton had nine kills and Alaina Sartori had four kills for the Vikings (7-3).

    • Bacon Academy beat New London 3-0. Ka’Maya Little had six kills, three blocks and 10 points, Maddie Meyer had 14 kills, 10 digs and three aces, Dominique Sanchez had 26 digs, Jillian Snow had 13 assists and Bailey Handwerk had 11 kills and five aces for New London (0-10).

    • Norwich Tech lost to Putnam 3-1 in a nonleague match on Friday. Victoria Tirado had 14 kills, five digs and two aces, Abby Ulrich had eight kills, four digs and three aces and Rose Johnny had 12 assists, five digs and three aces for the Warriors (7-3), who lost 28-26, 24-26, 21-25, 22-25.

    Swimming

    • NFA lost to Hamden 97-66 in a nonleague meet on Friday. Natalie Bezansen won the 100 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke for NFA (0-5) and Kaylee Riley won the 100 backstroke and teamed with Peyton Welch, Gianna Lennon and Valerie Herr to win the 200 freestyle relay.
