UConn men receive commitment from highly-regarded guard Adams
UConn’s success on the recruiting trail put the Huskies in position to win back-to-back national championships.
The Huskies have hit the jackpot once again, receiving a commitment from 6-foot-5 combination guard Darius Adams, a top 25 recruit out of La Lumiere School in La Porte, Ind.
Adams chose the Huskies over Michigan State and Tennessee. He announced his decision to 247Sports.
“First and foremost, it is close to home,” Adams told 247Sports about his decision. “And then the coaching staff, I loved being around them. Their intensity in practice I really like. I want to be pushed hard. … Everyone has the same goal there, they want to get better. And I want to put myself in that position. (Dan Hurley) makes his players better.”
A New Jersey native, Adams is the first Class of 2025 recruit to commit to coach Dan Hurley. He took an official visit to Storrs.
“He has positional size, skill, shooting, and a feel for the game,” Adam Finkelstein, director of scouting for 247Sports, wrote on social media. “Those are all things UConn values. Plus, there’s still significant potential to discover in the coming years.”
Adams had a message for UConn fans.
“They’re getting a fierce competitor that is willing to do anything to win,” Adams said. “And they’re going to have to sit back and wait and see.”
The Huskies are involved with several other high profile recruits, including forward Niko Bundalo, center Eric Reibe, guard Acaden Lewis, guard Meleek Thomas and guard Braylon Mullins.
