UConn men secure another commitment from a high-level guard

UConn is on a recruiting roll.

Braylon Mullins is the latest high-level recruit to commit to the Huskies, making the announcement on Wednesday.

A five-star and top 25-rated recruit, Mullins also considered North Carolina and Indiana. He averaged 25 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.2 steals last season at Greenfield-Central High School in Indiana. He shot 43% from 3-point range.

Mullins unveiled his choice during a ceremony at his high school.

“I felt like it was the best spot for me out of the three finalists that I had,” Mullins told 247Sports. “I didn’t want to play for any other coach than coach (Dan) Hurley. He’s a players’ coach. Player development was definitely a key piece for my development and I knew he would get me somewhere with my goals, so I wanted to play for him.”

It’s been a busy and successful last few weeks on the recruiting trail for the Huskies.

The 6-foot-5 Mullins is the second guard to pick the Huskies from the Class of 2025. Darius Adams, a top 25 guard out of La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, committed to UConn in late September.

Eric Reibe, a 7-foot, 235-pound center at the Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, announced last week his plans to play for UConn.

Hurley spoke in general terms about the 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday at Big East media day at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

“We’ve lost a lot of high-end talent,” Hurley said. “I think that this recruiting class for us in ’25 is to bring in high-end talent, players potentially that will be early entry level. We just lost seven NBA players over the course of two years, which is a lot.

“So we’ve got to replenish that high-end NBA talent. (Associate head coach) Kimani (Young) and (assistant) Luke (Murray) know what they’ve been tasked with.”
