Local roundup: Lyman advances to ECC Div. II girls’ soccer final
Lebanon — Lyman Memorial beat Plainfield 2-1 on Sunday in the semifinals of the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II girls’ soccer tournament on Sunday.
The game was suspended on Saturday night due to an injury. The No. 2 Bulldogs (13-3-1) will play No. 1 Montville for the title on Monday at Griswold at 4:30 p.m.
No. 1 Bacon Academy and No. 2 Woodstock Academy will play for the ECC Division I title in the second game at 7 p.m. Both games will be live-streamed by GameDay on theday.com.
In other games:
• Nicole Hudson scored for top-seeded Montville in a 1-0 victory over No. 5 Windham in the ECC Division II tournament semifinals Saturday. Sienna Gressly made four saves for Montville (11-4-2), which outshot Windham 13-4.
H.S. cross country
Williams School had both the winners at the CISAC Championship on Saturday in Hamden. Jadiel Thomas won the boys race and Alexa Pesarik won the girls’ race.
The boys’ team came in second with Mack Rodgers taking second and Calvin LaFrance finishing ninth. Connor Gingras, Jonathan Patton and Jeffrey Reinhart also contributed to the finish. Lena Cosentino was third in the girls’ race and Veronika Altimirano and Sabine Balentine also contributed.
Men’s hockey
• Jake Percival scored a pair of goals as UConn beat No. 15 UMass 3-2 in a Hockey East game on Saturday. The Huskies (4-2-1, 1-1-1) led 3-0 as Joey Muldowney scored in the second period and held on for the win.Tyler Muszelik made 27 saves for UConn.

• Tryouts will be held for the Waterford American Legion Spring/Summer 13-15 baseball team. They will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Waterford Babe Ruth Field. Teams will play a mix of travel games / tournaments and an American Legion schedule.
