    Goodspeed opens ‘42nd Street’

The next show to take to The Goodspeed’s stage is a dance-happy extravaganza stuffed with familiar tunes, from “We’re in the Money” to “Lullaby of Broadway” to “Shuffle Off to Buffalo.”

It’s “42nd Street,” and it runs from Friday through Nov. 6 at the East Haddam venue.

The plot is a version of that theater favorite – a new, starry-eyed performer becomes a star overnight. It’s set in the 1930s.

The Goodspeed production is directed and choreographed by Randy Skinner, who was nominated for a Tony for his choreography for the 2001 Broadway production of “42nd Street.”

    “42nd Street,” The Goodspeed, 6 Main St., East Haddam; runs Sept. 16-Nov. 6; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Wed., 7:30 p.m. Thurs., 8 p.m. Fri., 3 and 8 p.m. Sat., and 2 p.m. Sun.; also 6:30 p.m. Sun. through Oct. 16 and 2 p.m. Thurs. starting Oct. 20; $30-$80: (860) 873-8668, goodspeed.org.
