A Christmas musical comedy opens at Goodspeed

Goodspeed Musicals is presenting the world premiere of a new musical comedy, “Christmas in Connecticut.” The story is based on the 1945 Warner Bros. movie, but it has fresh songs by Jason Howland and Amanda Yesnowitz.

Josh Breckenridge and Tina Stafford rehearse for Goodspeed’s “Christmas in Connecticut.“

In this tale, a woman who writes a column about marriage, cooking and homemaking secretly isn’t married, can’t cook and isn’t a homemaker. But when her publisher asks her to host a war hero for a Christmas dinner, she tries to make it work. Do things go comically awry? Of course.

Ed Dixon and James Judy rehearse for Goodpseed’s “Christmas in Connecticut.”

The film starred Barbara Stanwyck, with Sydney Greenstreet portraying her publisher and Dennis Morgan as the war hero.

At Goodspeed, those roles are played by Audrey Cardwell, Ed Dixon, and Josh Breckenridge.

Amy Anders Corcoran directs. The book is by Patrick Pacheco and Erik Forrest Jackson.
