    Head-on crash involving wrong-way driver shuts down I-95 in Stamford

    A serious injury was reported in a crash involving a wrong-way driver and a tractor-trailer that shut down Interstate 95 in Stamford early Friday morning, according to the Connecticut State Police.

    Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash on I-95 South south of Exit 7 just after 2:30 a.m. on Friday after a wrong-way driver in a Ford Edge hit a tractor-trailer head-on, state police said.

    The driver of the Ford, a 27-year-old man from Port Chester, New York, was seriously injured and transported to Stamford Hospital, according to state police. His condition was unknown.

    The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is assisting Troop G with the investigation.
