Netflix's 'Love Is Blind' puts out casting call for New England applicants
Netflix's hit reality dating show "Love Is Blind" has put out a casting call for singles in four areas in the U.S., including New England.
"Love Is Blind" is a Netflix series in which 15 single men and 15 single women from the same region date for 10 days and get engaged without seeing each other in person.
During the 10 days, the show's participants are put into "pods," rooms where they are able to talk to the person they're dating through a speaker instead of seeing them. It's not until someone proposes marriage that the couple is able to see each other in person.
The show has previously featured singles in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Seattle. This is the first time that the casting company behind "Love Is Blind," Kinetic Content Casting, has put out a casting call across multiple U.S. states.
"We are open to Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts," Kinetic Content Casting's Executive Vice President of Casting Donna Driscoll said.
Driscoll said that Kinetic Content Casting often puts out casting calls for "Love Is Blind" to "gauge the temperature of excitement" in a particular area or city. The greater the level of interest and applicants, the more likely that a certain location will be featured on the show.
Along with New England, Kinetic Content Casting is also currently casting for applicants in Atlanta, Miami and Columbus, Ohio.
"New England has really, really got a lot of excitement," she said. "I feel like New England has a lot to offer in the way of sincere, genuine and authentic people."
Driscoll said that when casting for "Love Is Blind," "growth, vulnerability and authenticity" are important factors that she looks for in an applicant.
"I think when we're looking at candidates, the number one thing I look for is people who are open to growth or have shown the ability to grow in their past from relationships they've been in before, with their family, friends and loved ones," Driscoll said. "When I'm casting, I'm not saying, 'Oh, this will be the couple that goes on the honeymoon, this will be the couple that gets engaged.' We leave that up to fate."
The online application for "Love Is Blind" is currently open on Kinetic Content's website for singles who are 21 or older, but Driscoll said there will also be a "Love Is Blind" virtual casting call via Zoom for the first time ever.
"This virtual casting call is really for people to come into the Zoom and have that opportunity to stand out outside of just the application," Driscoll said.
Driscoll said that the virtual casting call will be announced on Kinetic Content and Kinetic Content Casting's Instagram accounts in the coming weeks. She advised New England residents to get their applications in "as soon as possible."
"The deadline is yesterday," Driscoll said. "The team is actively reading every single application that comes through right now."
