East Hampton schools lockdown lifted, threat deemed unsubstantiated, police say
East Hampton — Law enforcement responded to a threat at one of the town's schools Tuesday, but later determined it was unsubstantiated, officials said.
Around 2 p.m., an East Hampton police official said police were responding to a threat, but did not provide specific details about the situation.
East Hampton Superintendent of Schools Timothy Van Tasel said the schools were in lockdown protocol, and Connecticut State Police confirmed they were on the scene assisting with an investigation.
In a later post on Facebook, police said the threat was at the middle school, which was placed in lockdown and searched out of an abundance of caution. They said the lockdown was lifted after the threat was found to be not credible.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
