Waterford resident claimed a winning $390K Connecticut Lottery ticket on Monday
For one Connecticut resident, the last day of September was a lucky one.
On Monday, Sept. 30, a Waterford resident claimed a winning Lucky For Life lottery ticket, which awarded them $390,000, according to the Connecticut Lottery winners list. The ticket was sold at Henny Penny Oswegatchie 38 in Waterford, according to the Connecticut Lottery.
In order to claim winnings of $390,000, a ticket must match five numbers, according to the Lucky For Life prizes and odds page. The winner had the option of claiming a $25,000 a year for life annuity or a $390,000 lump sum cash option, according to the Connecticut Lottery.
The odds of matching five numbers in a Lucky For Life ticket are one in over 1.8 million, according to the Connecticut Lottery.
The chances this Waterford resident had for winning were even less than the odds a Windsor Locks resident had when they claimed a $3 million Fortune lottery ticket in early September, which was one in over 1.3 million.
On Tuesday, "as luck would have it," said a Connecticut Lottery representative, a Lucky For Life lottery ticket, which was one of the two unclaimed Connecticut Lottery tickets expiring in October, was claimed. A person from Eaton, Ohio, claimed the ticket and chose to accept the prize as the $390,000 lump sum cash option, said the Connecticut Lottery representative. The ticket was sold at a Stop & Shop in Danbury on April 19 and would have expired on Oct. 16, according to the Connecticut Lottery.
