Two injured after boat crashes into break wall in Clinton, officials say
Clinton — Two people were injured on Tuesday after their boat crashed into the break wall at Kelsey Point, officials said.
The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department said in a post on Facebook that crews responded to the Kelsey Point for a vessel that had lost power and drifted onto the break wall.
Officials said the boat was taking on water with two people on board. They said firefighters assisted in removing the individuals from the wall, bringing the vessel to the boat launch, and getting it out of the water.
Two individuals were evaluated on scene for minor injuries, officials said.
"People often ask why our boat stays in the water year-round," they said. "The answer is simple: for situations like this. Anglers, hunters, and commercial vessels are on the water year-round. Being located between two USCG stations our mutual aid partners, and our selves are often first on scene to any emergencies on the water."
Officials said the Westbrook Fire Department and Madison Hose Co. No. 1 assisted in the incident.
