Police investigate shooting death in Pittsfield, Mass.

Pittsfield, Mass. (AP) — A man is dead after an early morning shooting in Pittsfield.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that police went to Edward Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday after a report of a possible shooting victim. They found the man with at least one gunshot wound.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the police department's detective bureau. Investigators say they do not believe there is any threat to the general public.
