NATICK, Mass. (AP) — Officers with a Massachusetts police department say they were deeply touched by a letter from a woman who has turned her life around since they saved her from a near-fatal opioid overdose.

The handwritten letter from a woman police did not publicly name, along with some baked goods, was dropped off at the Natick Police Department recently, The MetroWest Daily News reported Thursday.

“The people who it meant a lot to are the officers who are out there, day in and day out, doing CPR and administering Narcan and saving lives,” Lt. Cara Rossi said.

The woman wrote that her overdose in August was a “wake-up call.”

“I went to detox the next day and haven’t used since,” she wrote. “Due to you guys saving my life through CPR, and Narcan, I got my life back.”

She wrote that she had regained custody of her daughter and earned back the trust of her family.

The officers directly involved in saving the woman did not want to talk publicly but are happy to hear that she is doing so well, Rossi said.

“It really touched them to see this,” she said.
