Some Connecticut state employees appear to receive three paychecks this week
In what is being described as a technical glitch by the state comptroller’s office, it appeared that some state workers received three paychecks instead of one this week.
But it was not as it appeared, according to Tyler Van Buren, the communications director for the comptroller’s office.
State employees who use certain financial institutions — the state employees’ credit union, for example — saw the mistaken direct deposit appear in their accounts, but the deposit doesn’t actually go through until Thursday. Van Buren said ultimately state employees will not be paid three times their paycheck this week, despite that some have seen or will see three transactions.
“It would appear on mobile banking so you would see three deposit numbers. Those funds don’t post in the state payroll system until tomorrow. Some banks put them in their systems early, some don’t,” Van Buren said shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday. “The reversal file that undoes those deposits happened about 45 minutes ago.”
He said state employees should receive their customary paychecks Thursday.
