UConn caps spring with annual Blue-White football game

UConn will cap a productive spring season with its annual Blue-White football game at 3 p.m. Saturday at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

To say the least, coach Bob Diaco is thrilled about the direction the Huskies are headed.

"I love working with this team," Diaco said following Wednesday's workout in Storrs. "They're energetic. They love what they're doing, and they love being together."

The day is more than just about a football game. There will be a fanfest as well as a pre-game autograph session with the national champion UConn women's basketball team starting at 2 p.m.

Parking lots open at noon for tailgating and gates open at 1 p.m. Admission and parking is free.

Following the game, UConn coaches and players will meet and greet fans on the field.

The Huskies are ready to show off their improvements.

"When you look down that list of the one thing that we've given each specific player to get better at this spring, there really isn't a guy that hasn't gotten better at that one thing, which has manifested itself into a collection of positive plays on offense, defense and special teams," Diaco said.

"It's been a more crisp, faster moving team in all three phases. And there's just more clarity and joy."
