UConn football adds seven during second signing day

Storrs — UConn added seven new players to its football program on Wednesday during the second National Signing Day period, head coach Randy Edsall announced.

The Huskies had already added 13 players during the early signing period in December.

Wednesday's list includes Mike Beaudry, a 6-foot-5 graduate student quarterback from Orlando, Fla. And the University of West Florida; Ardell Brown, a 5-10 graduate student from Rochester, N.Y. and Seton Hill University (Greenburg, Pa.); Kevens Clercius, a 6-3 wide receiver from Montreal, Canada, Matt Drayton, a 6-1 wide receiver from Jacksonville, Fla.; Jeff Woods, a 6-6 defensive lineman from Fayetteville, N.C.; Dal'Mont Gourdine, a 6-3 defensive tackle from North Charleston, S.C.; and Cameron Ross, a 5-9 wid receiver from Washington D.C.

Beaudry is the most interesting of Wednesday's seven new commits. He led West Florida to the NCAA Division II championship game in 2017, throwing for 3,215 yards and 29 touchdowns in 13 games before missing all but one game in 2018 with an injury. Brown also comes from the Division II ranks where he had 81 receptions for 1,267 yards and nine TDS in his final season at Seton Hill.
