The Coast Guard Band performs space-centric program

Boy, everyone loves “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” — including, apparently, the U.S. Coast Guard Band.

On Sunday, the group will play music that explores the idea of space, as a nod to the release of “The Force Awakens.” The sci-fi enthusiasm, though, isn’t contained to “Star Wars”; the concert’s title is “The Final Frontier” (you’re welcome, Trekkies).

Naturally, the band has to kick off the show with John Williams’ iconic “Star Wars” theme. Williams’ score for “E.T.: The Extraterrestrial” will close the show. In between, expect to hear everything from Gustav Holst’s “Jupiter” from “The Planets” to Kurt Weill’s “What Good Would the Moon Be?” to Bart Howard’s “Fly Me to the Moon.”

The concert promises to be, well, out of this world.
