Hockey rockers hit New London for a Saturday show at 33 Golden Street.

Five for Fighting is a successful rock songwriter named after a penalty in hockey. FFF is apparently a huge fan of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings.

The musicians in the New Haven rock band The Zambonis aren't near as well-known as Five for Fighting, but ALL of their songs are about hockey. Not sure FFF can say that.

The Zambonis hit New London's 33 Golden Street on Saturday for a night of hockey rock. One anticipates an evening full of power chords and references to Stan Mikita, Bobby Hull, the lamented and lost Hartford Whalers, why no one cares about the Florida Panthers, and how Wayne Gretzky really feels about Dustin Johnson being engaged to his daughter.

Another excellent reason to see this show: The Marvelous Liars appear in support.

    The Zambonis, 9 p.m. Saturday, 33 Golden St., New London; $5; (860) 443-1193.
