    Blues stars to play Sunday at 8th Annual Mitch Fest

    The blues have a most amazing capacity to heal — and its purveyors make sure it stays that way.

    On Sunday at the Knickerbocker Café in Westerly, the 8th Annual Mitch Fest takes place. Several area artists will show up and perform for the occasion, which benefits Hospice Rhode Island in memory of James "Mitch" Christina — patriarch of the musical Rhode Island family that includes sons Bob and Fran Christina of such acts as Roomful of Blues.

    Mitch was a huge supporter of Rhody music, and the whole Christina family will host. In addition to the  Christina Brothers, the day-into-night event will feature music from Five For Now, Tony Lynn Washington, Brian Templeton, Johnny MacLeod, Sugar Ray Norcia, Lisa Marie & Johnny Juxo, Bob Hassen, Mr. Nick, Willie J. Laws, Sam Gentille, Tommy Mahfood and more.
