Allman Neville Pitchell Band hits Old Saybrook for Saturday show

Here's a recipe for you. Build a musical foundation around the funky sax stylings of Grammy-winning Charles Neville and the searing blues guitar of Jeff Pitchell. Add the melodious but gritty Southern rock vocals of Michael Allman — and you have the core of the Allman Neville Pitchell Band, performing Saturday in the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center.

This is the perfect unit to thematically celebrate the music of inspirations like Ray Charles and B.B. King. To that happy end, the band will be joined onstage by special guest vocalists Sheila Ray Charles (daughter of Ray) and Claudette King (daughter of B.B.).  Expect a lot of heartfelt homage and percolating soul.

The Allman Neville Pitchell Band, 8 p.m. Saturday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $48-$54; 1-877-503-1286.
