New Haven metal band Deady by Wednesday plays Strange Brew Pub on Saturday

The citizens of the metal community can be an admirably loyal bunch. Consider a situation in which New Haven band Dead by Wednesday had to part ways over personal issues with longtime/founding vocalist Joe Morbidelli. As a gradually rising act that has toured internationally with the likes of Flotsam and Jetsam, Hatebreed and Shadows Fall, Dead by Wednesday found themselves in a tough situation.

How to capitalize on their hard-earned momentum and record vital new material with no singer?

The answer was inspired and a gracious statement of brotherhood: frontmen from several Connecticut and national metal acts each contributed lead vocals for one song each on Dead by Wednesday's 2016 "Darkest of Angels" album. The album has an all-star quality yet maintains the Dead by Wednesday sonic DNA.

Now, with new frontman Rob Roy in place, Dead by Wednesday powers ahead at full strength and with fresh chemistry and energy. See them Saturday in Norwich at the Strange Brew Pub. Frost Giant, Kill the Straggler, Continuum, Holding On To Nothing, and Wormwood are also on the bill.

Dead by Wednesday, 7 p.m. Saturday, Strange Brew Pub, 86 Water St., Norwich; $10; (860) 886-7600.
