The question Janet Peckinpaugh didn't answer

Janet Peckinpaugh, not surprisingly, is good on television, and she seemed confident and at ease on WFSB-TV's Face the State on Sunday.

But host Dennis House did seem to catch her off-guard with one question: Who did she vote for in the 2nd District Congressional election in 2008?

Rep. Joe Courtney, the Democrat she now hopes to unseat, or Republican challenger Sean Sullivan?

The question comes at about 4:53 in the video.

And Peckinpaugh doesn't ever answer it.

"Who did I vote for? I don't remember," she tells House.

Then, for a moment, it seems like she's about to give an answer, but she ultimately repeats herself: "I don't know. I can't tell you that."

To insiders who are already dubious about Peckinpaugh's last-minute registration as a Republican, and even more last-minute entry into the 2nd District race, that non-answer may bear further scrutiny.

One of Peckinpaugh's rivals for the party nomination, Matthew M. Daly, has already raised questions about Peckinpaugh's Republican bona fides.

Daly probably won't be the only one at the party convention on Friday who will want to know if Courtney got more in 2008 than the faint praise Peckinpaugh is currently sending his way. They will want to know if Courtney got her vote.

Here's House with more on Peckinpaugh.

(Update: Rick Green noticed this too.)
