    All-Area H.S. football team/offense

    • Montville junior Jake Basilica's season was cut short by injury, but he was one of the league's top linemen while healthy. He was named to the Class M all-state team and All-ECC Medium Division team. Basilica is an honor student who has drawn Division I interest.

    • Ledyard senior Slade Baxley had 287 receiving yards, 432 rushing yards, started in the secondary, ran back punts and kicks, punted and was the holder this season. He scored six touchdowns, two of which came in a key late-season win at Branford. Baxley is a member of the All-ECC Large Division team. He is the starting goalie for the boys' lacrosse team and lists UMass-Dartmouth and Wheaton among his college choices.

    • Fitch junior Ian Boyd had one of the strongest legs in the ECC and was among the league's top kickers. Boyd's kickoffs routinely sent kick returners backpedaling. He is a three-year starter for the Falcons and is an honor student.

    • NFA junior Ryer Caruso set a record among ECC receivers with 270 receiving yards during a midseason win over Fitch. Caruso ranks 10th in state history for a single game. Caruso was named WFSB TV's Athlete of the Week during the season. He was named to the All-ECC Large Division team. He also plays basketball and participates in outdoor track.

    • Valley Regional/Old Lyme senior quarterback Jimmy Fairfield-Sonn ran for 26 touchdowns and for 1,500 yards this season. He also passed for 14 scores and 1,000 yards. He led the team with 160 tackles, seven interceptions and four forced fumbles. Fairfield-Sonn finished with 3,100 rushing yards in his career, 53 rushing touchdowns, 2,000 yards passing, 30 passing touchdowns, 19 interceptions and 355 tackles. He has a 3.8 grade point average and will attend Amherst College.

    • New London senior Khaleed Fields led the Whalers with 650 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Fields was named to the All-ECC Large Division team and Class L all-state team. He also plays basketball and was a member of the 2011 state championship team. Fields won the Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is considering Georgetown, Lafayette, UConn, Rhode Island, Colgate and Villanova.

    • Montville junior Isaiah Holloway was an All-ECC Medium Division player as a starter on the offensive line and at linebacker. He was also a member of the Class M all-state team. Holloway is a high honor student and president of the Key Club at Montville. He lists Wesleyan University, Notre Dame, Yale, Harvard, Rice and Boston College among his schools of interest.

    • New London senior Voghens Larrieux was one of the region's top offensive linemen, named to the Class L all-state team. Larrieux, at left tackle, helped teammate Kyle McKinnon run for more than 1,800 yards. Larrieux also played for the Whalers' state championship basketball team last winter. He has been named Student of the Month at New London and won one of the school's science awards. He is interested in Stony Brook, Central Connecticut and Villanova.

    • Ledyard senior Alex Manwaring ran for an ECC-record 2,551 yards this season, carrying the ball 389 times. Manwaring set the school's single-game rushing record at 317 during a win at Bacon Academy. Manwaring scored 23 touchdowns, including the game-winner with four seconds left on Thanksgiving. He finished with 3,591 career yards and 37 touchdowns. Manwaring was named to the New Haven Register's 26-player all-state team, encompassing all divisions. He is a three-time all-state wrestler. Manwaring is the Student Congress President at Ledyard and is considering Trinity, WPI, Oberlin and Stonehill.

    • Ledyard junior Ben Morales started on the Colonels' offensive line and was named to the All-ECC Medium Division team. Morales, who returns next season with four other starters, helped teammate Alex Manwaring rush for more than 2,500 yards.

    • NFA sophomore Marcus Outlow led the Wildcats in rushing and became one of the ECC's most dangerous running backs. Outlow was named to the All-ECC Large Division team and has won sportsmanship awards at NFA, also participating in basketball and track. Outlow is a high honors student.

    • Ledyard junior Kyle Wilson was part of the league's most proficient offensive line. He helped the Colonels run for more than 3,000 yards this season. Wilson, who also played defense, is an honor student.
