H.S. track: Griswold boys beat Stonington; Ledyard clinches ECC Medium

Stonington - Kyle Davis and Kyle Craig were double-winners Tuesday as the Griswold High School boys' track and field team beat Stonington 69-52 in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division.

Both teams entered the meet unbeaten.

Davis won the 1,600 (4:57) and 3,200 (11:18) for the Wolverines (3-1, 2-0) while Craig captured the shot put (46 feet) and discus (131-10).

Arrow Davis won the 100 (11.3) and 200 (23.9) for Stonington (3-3, 3-1).

In other meets:

• Greg Knight won the shot put (43-0) and discus (112-3) as Ledyard beat Waterford (112-38) and Plainfield (130-20) to capture the ECC Medium Division. Andrew Kline won the 3,200 (10:54) and Ben Bruciati won the 400 (52.3) while the 4x100 relay team of Joseph Carter, Steve Servidio, Alex Paterson and Bruciati placed first in 44 seconds for the Colonels (5-2, 5-0).

Nick Petrizzi took first in the long jump (19-6), high jump (5-8) and triple jump (40-4) for Waterford, which beat Plainfield, 84-62. The Lancers are 2-6, 1-4.

• Dave Gage (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) and Jon Combies (1,600, 3,200) won two events each to lead East Lyme past Bacon Academy 92.5-56.5 in the ECC Large Division. The Vikings are 5-2, 3-2. Jake Kennedy (100, 200) and Spencer Dimock (shot put, discus) were double-winners for Bacon (3-3, 2-3).

• Brandon Johnson won the 110 hurdles in 15.7 seconds, leading Montville in an 80-70 win over Killingly and an 86-59 loss to Windham in the ECC Medium Division. Jesse Joseph took first in the 1,600 (4:50) while Dan Linkinhoker won the 3,200 (10:24.1) and Matt Navetta won the pole vault (12-6) for the Indians (3-2, 2-2).

Girls

• Magen Faxlanger won the 1,600 (5:51) and 800 (2:47) as Griswold remained unbeaten in the ECC Small Division with a 79-49 win over Stonington. Christina Perry won the shot put (29-4) and discus (92-8) for Stonington (1-5, 1-3).

• Montville won a pair of ECC Medium Division meets, beating Killingly 87-60 and Windham 87-49. Natalie Bowens was a triple-winner for Montville (3-2, 3-1), winning the 200, long jump and triple jump. Other winners for Montville were Alana Lopes, Shatajah Wattely, Kiah Strickland, Lauren Hess and Sonja Campbell.

• East Lyme won all three relay events and had a pair of double-winners in Chelsea Stevens and Eva Christensen to beat Bacon 101-49 in the ECC Large Division. Stevens won the 100 (13.4) and 200 (28.0) for the Vikings (6-1, 4-1) with Christensen capturing the 1,600 (5:33.4) and 3,200 (11:45.4). Alexia Bohnen Kamper (300 hurdles, high jump) and Charisse Townsen (shot put, discus) won two events apiece for Bacon (4-2, 3-2).

• Woodstock Academy beat New London 115-12. Samantha Lake won the long jump and was second in the 300 hurdles and Deanna Capiello was second in the 1,600 for New London (3-6, 0-5).

• Ari Fustini finished first in the long jump (14-9) and triple jump (31-8) and Kylie Fustini won the discus (97-3) and high jump (4-8) for Ledyard, which beat Waterford 130-19 and lost to Plainfield 84.5-65.5 in the ECC Medium. Chenoa Sebastian took first in the 100 (12.8), 100 hurdles (15.4) and 300 hurdles (50.6) for the Colonels (6-1, 4-1). Plainfield also beat Waterford 131-19.
