    Scope Magazine celebrates 10th anniversary

The Scope magazine is commemorating its 10th anniversary with a birthday party/fundraiser: a fine evening of music, art and entertainment Friday at the El 'n' Gee Club in New London.

Now primarily an online publication, The Scope was founded in 2002 as a free print magazine that has evolved into a popular source for news, opinion, art and humor - reliably crafted by area contributors.

Performing at the all-ages benefit/celebration are local bands The Resident Alien Project, DIM, We Got Mouths and The Weird Beards. Art works by Anna Braun, Krista Stan and Larry Ryan will be on display, and expect Hula Hoop sorcery from Ashley E$$ence and Veronica Vixen.

The Scope 10th Anniversary Celebration, 9 p.m. Friday, El 'n' Gee Club, 86 Golden St., New London; $5 all ages; (860) 437-3800.
