The unemployment rate in the economically struggling eurozone hit a record 11.4 percent in August, the European Union said Monday.
The unemployment rates for June and July also were revised up to 11.4 percent, meaning the 17-nation eurozone has seen its jobless situation at that level for three straight months.
Before the adjustments, Eurostat had said unemployment was at 11.2 percent in June and 11.3 percent in July, both record highs.
Unemployment for the eurozone in August was up from 10.2 percent a year earlier.
The U.S. unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in August.
