Casinos' slot-revenue declines continued in November

Slot-machine revenues at the region’s casinos fell significantly last month, though not by the huge levels recorded in Superstorm Sandy-ravaged October.

Results reported today show Foxwoods Resort Casino’s slots “win” for November — the wagers it kept after paying out prizes — totaled $43.0 million, down 10.2 percent over the same month in 2011. Mohegan Sun’s win of $50.0 million was down 9.1 percent.

“The Super Storm-weakened regional economy adversely impacted results,” Foxwoods said in a statement.

Sandy struck land Oct. 29 and had a direct impact on casino business into early November. Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, which never closed, reported October declines in slots win of 15.6 and 17.6 percent, respectively.

For November, Foxwoods forwarded $11.2 million of its slots win to the state, while Mohegan Sun’s contribution was $12.5 million.
